  1. We used to love traveling down to the coast by train as children to visit my grand parents each year. My dad would get us a compartment and we would have an overnight trip with the bunk beds out. We would all fight who was going to sleep on the top.

The best thing about trains is that you can move around freely, go to the dining car to eat and get to marvel at the changing scenery. As children it definitely made for an interesting journey. I wonder if the sleep over trains still run, as I haven’t seen them around this area for a few years?

    • Hello Michel,

I appreciate your contributions to the article.

Yes, you are correct. Being able to move around and enjoy meals in the dining car while watching the scenery go by makes the journey so special.

There are still sleeper trains in many regions. Some have even steeped up their games by catering to nostalgic travellers with modernised amenities, e.g., wifi, organic food, etc.

It might be worth checking your local rail operator, or better yet, try to explore international options for a similar experience.

I wish you safe travels whenever you are ready to explore either of the options.

Thanks for your insight and your support.

      Regards,

      – Makinde
